Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamgrabbed five more golds and one silver at the International Club Open TaekwondoChampionship which wrapped up in Sakai city of Japan on April 22.
The medals were in kyorugi (combat) events.The winners were Huynh Bao Nghi (girls’ U37kg), Nguyen Thanh Tai (men’s 87kg),Dang The Tan (men’s 63kg), Nguyen Thi Kim Tuyen (women’s U46kg) and Pham ThiHuynh Trang (women’s U57kg).
One day earlier, the team won fourgold and one silver medals in poosae (performance) events.
Truong Ngoc De, President of the Vietnam Taekwondo Federation, said thetournament was an opportunity for young athletes to increase their experiencein international competitions. The games also allow them to build contacts withfriends throughout the world.
This year’s tournament broughttogether more than 1,000 athletes from 90 clubs in 19 countries andterritories.
Previously, the tournament wasorganised every two years, but since 2011 it has become an annual event.-VNA
