Hanoi (VNA) – A 6.8 magnitude earthquake joltedIndonesia’s Banda Sea on late May 6, but there was no tsunami warning issued,according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).
The AFP news agency quoted the USGS as sayingthat the undersea quake struck at a depth of some 107 kilometres in the seabetween Indonesia's Maluku and Timor Leste at 22:50 local time (13:50 GMT).
Meanwhile, Reuters cited the EuropeanMediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) that the 6.9- magnitude quake was ata depth of 117 km.
