Hanoi (VNA) - Striker Nguyen Cong Phuong will leave for France on June24 to start a new journey, his third time competing abroad.

The Hoang Anh Gia Lai FC player will have a one-month trial with Ligue 2 sideClermont Foot 63 FC, who finished 10th last season.

National team star Phượng had his one-year loan contract with Incheon United FCof the Republic of Korea ended by mutual consent after just four months.

Established in 1911, Clermont Foot 63 FC have never competed in Ligue 1 andwere the first professional men's team to be managed by a woman from 2014-17under Corinne Diacre.

Currently they are managed by Pascal Gastien. The Ligue 2 season begins on July26.

If signed, Phong, who played in Japan for Mito HollyHock in 2015, will be thesecond Vietnamese to play in Europe after former national team striker Le Cong Vinhturned out for Leixoes SC in Portugal in 2009. - VNA

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange
