Hanoi (VNA) – A special national-level art programme was held in Hanoi on May17 to celebrate the 130th birth anniversary of late President Ho Chi Minh (May19).
Prominent among thoseattending the event were Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and National AssemblyChairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.
The programme aims to highlight remarkable contributions by PresidentHo Chi Minh to the national revolutionary cause, as well as promote theeffective implementation of the campaign on studying and following the latePresident’s ideology, morality and style.
The songs performedin the programme included those by both Vietnamese and foreign composers,popular among various generations of Vietnamese people, praising the lateleader. Audiences also had a chance to enjoy songs of ethnic minority groupsexpressing their gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh's for his great devotion tothe nation.
President Ho Chi Minhwas born on May 19, 1890 in Kim Lien commune, Nam Dan district, thenorth-central province of Nghe An. He devoted his whole life to the nationalliberation cause, while tirelessly striving for peace and progress in theworld.
He also led the struggle for national independence to success andestablished the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic ofVietnam, in 1945. The President passed away in 1969./.
