Hanoi (VNA) - The Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH) and the People's Committee of Dong Da district co-organised a seminar entitled "Preserving and upholding the value of special relic site Dong Da Mound " on the occasion of the 230th anniversary of the Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da victory.
Located in the centre of Dong Da district, Dong Da mound holds historical significance, demonstrating the glorious victory of hero Quang Trung and the Vietnamese nation.
How to further uphold the value of the special relic site in contemporary life and tourism development of the capital city, turning it into an attractive destination?
It is the concern of many delegates to the seminar entitled "Preserving and upholding the value of special relic site Dong Da Mound" held in Hanoi on December 10.
The event was co-hosted by the VNMH and the People's Committee of Dong Da district on the occasion of the 230th anniversary of the Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da victory.
It received nearly 30 reports by leaders, managers, experts and scientists, focusing on three major contents.
VNMH Director Asso. Prof Nguyen Van Cuong said reports at the event feature historical and cultural values of special relic site Dong Da Mound, preservation and restoration of the site, upholding of its value in combination with the capital city’s tourism development.
Several opinions expressed regret because the Dong Da Culture Park is yet to create an attractive space.
Meanwhile, several display houses are too small with old contents. It is only open each Monday, Wednesday and Friday, providing less opportunities for the public to see artefacts.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Cuong, Director of the National Museum of History, the presentations at the workshop focused on the historical and cultural values of Go Dong Da special national monument; preservation and embellishment of Go Dong Da special national monument; promoting the value of Go Dong Da special national monument in association with developing capital tourism.
The speeches and suggestions at the workshop affirmed the great stature, historical and cultural values as well as the orientation of conservation, embellishment and promotion of the values of the monument. This contributes to preserving traces of the victory, forever living part of the indefinite memory of the Vietnamese nation in the struggle against foreign aggression and national defense.
Besides, the delegates also expressed regret because Dong Da Cultural Park has not provided visitors with a truly attractive experience space.
Some comments said that the gallery of documents and artifacts on relics is too small, the content is old. On the other hand, the fact that the gallery is only open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays is unreasonable, leaving the public with little access to the exhibits.
Associate Professor, Dr. Do Van Tru, Vice Chairman, General Secretary of the Cultural Heritage Association, pointed out the lack of information about the relic site, and emphasised the need to build an exhibition house at the Dong Da Cultural Park which, he said, should be opened through the week.
Some delegates suggested restoring the Trung Liet Temple, a place of worship of national heroes in the anti-French period such as Nguyen Tri Phuong, Hoang Dieu, Truong Quoc Dung and Nguyen Cao in order to double values of this monument.
The Go Dong Da festival is held on the fifth day of each Lunar New Year, attracting people across the country.
Go Dong Da, now called the Dong Da Cultural Park located in the center of Dong Da district, was recognised as a historical-cultural relic site by Hanoi in April 1962.
The municipal People’s Committee decided to build the Dong Da Cultural Park on an area of 21,745 sq.m in1989, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the victory of Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da./.
