Hanoi (VNA) – A new skillof Vietnamese gymnast Pham Phuoc Hung was recognised by the InternationalFederation of Gymnastics (FIG) at the 47th Artistic Gymnastics WorldChampionships 2017 in Montreal, Canada.
Hung successfully performed his newskill in the still rings event, at a difficultly level of value of E, with I being the hardest. The skill was officially named “The Pham”, coming fromhis family name.
This is the second timethat the gymnast has invented a new skill in the event. Earlier at the worldchampionships held in Glasgow, Scotland in November 2015, he successfullyperformed a skill of D value.
AnotherVietnamese gymnast, Nguyen Tuan Dat, was recognised by the FIG at the worldchampionships in 2013 for his skill.

According to the FIG, if a gymnast who hassubmitted a skill to be named after them completes the new element without amajor deduction in World or Olympic competition, or at another registered FIGcompetition where a Men’s Technical Committee member participates, the elementwill bear the name of that gymnast in the men's Code of Points.
The new skills were submitted byfederations and evaluated prior to the start of the World Championships by theFIG Men's Technical Committee.-VNA
