Hanoi (VNA) – Singapore launched the largest counter-terrorism drill from October 17 -18 to test the country’s multi-agency response in terror attack events and raise public awareness of the present threat.

The exercise involved over 3,200 personnel from the Singapore Armed Force (SAF) and the Internal Security Department (under the Ministry of Interior), and took place at over 360 locations across the country, including public transport stations, shopping centres, residential areas, and immigration checkpoints.

The drill consisted of two phases, with intelligence agency receiving “terror attacks” alarms, then security forces conducting patrols to deal with the threat.

Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister and Co-ordinating Minister for National Security stressed on October 18 that the level of regional terror threats is higher than what Singaporeans have observed over years, asking his citizens to take notice of this issue.-VNA
