Jakarta (VNA) – The second Counter-Terrorism Financing Summit wrapped up in Bali , Indonesia on August 11.

During the 4- day event (August 8-11), representatives from participating countries agreed on measures to eliminate violence, including early detection and prevention of terrorism financing as well as methods to prevent baneful social sites which incite extremism, and recruit, connect and plan for terror attacks.

Head of Indonesia’s Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK), Muhammad Yusuf, said the country which has over 17,000 islands, wishes to bolster cooperation with many countries in countering terrorism, to ensure national and regional security.

He said the PPATK has discovered a huge amount of money which has been transferred into the country in recent times from at least 10 countries worldwide. The money is suspected to fund terrorist activities. According to Australian Attorney-General Senator George Brandis, terrorism networks try to exploit national border and the Internet to disseminate extremism, and plan for violent activities which have created a real threat to the globe; hence cooperation among nations is significant in the war to combat terrorism.

The summit was also an open forum for international and regional partners to discuss issues on counter-terrorism, ensuring security and stability for the whole world.-VNA
