Hai Duong (VNA) – High-ranking officials of theWorkers’ Party of Korea (WPK) paid a working visit to the northern province ofHai Duong on February 28.

The trip was a fringe activity of thehigh-ranking WPK delegation during their stay to attend the second summitbetween the US and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) in Hanoiand the official visit to Vietnam by Chairman of the WPK Central Committee KimJong-un.

The delegation included Politburo member, ViceChairman of the WPK Central Committee and head of the WPK’s InternationalAffairs Department Ri Su Yong; Politburo member, Vice Chairman of the WPKCentral Committee and head of the WPK’s Cadres’ Affairs Department Kim PyongHae; and Politburo member, Vice Chairman of the WPK Central Committee and headof the WPK’s Economic Affairs Department O Su Yong.

They were welcomed by Secretary of the Hai DuongParty Committee Nguyen Manh Hien, Chairman of the provincial People’s CommitteeNguyen Duong Thai, and many other officials.

At the reception, Hien gave a brief introductionof his province’s potential and advantages, noting that the local economy hasdeveloped in recent years in all sectors, especially the private one, whilesocial security has been ensured. Hai Duong has concurrently boostedintegration and upheld its cultural identities.

Home to 14,000 businesses and 10 industrialparks, it posted an economic growth rate of 9.1 percent last year, he said,noting achievements in education, health care and living standard improvement.

Vice Chairman of the WPK Central Committee Ri SuYong thanked Hai Duong officials for their warm welcome, voicing his belief inthe development of Vietnam-DPRK relations in the future.

Following the meeting, the WPK delegationvisited the factory of the An Phat Plastic and Green Environment JSC in NamSach district and planted trees here.-VNA
