Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Runner NguyenThi Oanh has pocketed another gold medal in the women’s 5,000m event forVietnam at the ongoing Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) 29 in Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia.
With the achievement of 17:23:20, the Vietnameseathlete topped the race. Her teammate Pham Thi Hue won the silver while thebronze medal went to Triyaningsih from Indonesia.
Earlier, Oanh won a gold medal at the women’s 1,500m category.
Meanwhile, in the long jump event, Bui Thi ThuThao showed her best performance to bring home a gold medal. This was her firstgold at this Games.
As of 10:00 am onAugust 25, Vietnam remained second in the SEA Games 29’s medal table, with atotal of 94 medals, including 37 golds, 25 silvers and 32 bronzes.
Vietnam sent morethan 470 athletes to compete at the region’s biggest sporting event from August19-31. They are competing in 32 out of38 sports and aim to bring home 49-59 gold medals for a top three.-VNA
