Quang Nam (VNA) – The Republic of Korea (RoK) hasoffered Vietnamese people an insight into its traditional and modern culture ata two-day event in Hoi An Ancient Town, the central province of Quang Nam.
The RoK Culture Days is organised by the RoKEmbassy and the Korean Culture Centre in Vietnam. It is among a series ofactivities to celebrate the 25th founding anniversary of the two countries’diplomatic relations.
In the opening night on March 11, while theancient town was lighted up by traditional lanterns of both the RoK and Hoi An,An Hoi Sculpture Garden gave visitors a chance to experience the Korean culturethrough handicrafts, cuisine, and costumes.
Highlights of the Culture Days include a paperHanbok fashion show, Sachoom and Bibap performances – two types of contemporarymusical of the RoK, and traditional singing and dancing performances.
Cultural, artistic and culinary identities ofHoi An and Quang Nam are also featured at the event.
RoK Ambassador to Vietnam Lee Hyuk said the twocountries boast a long-standing relationship which is being reinforced. Asidefrom economic partnerships, cultural cooperation is also becoming stronger. TheRoK Culture Days in Hoi An is a good opportunity for their cultural exchange.
Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam provincialPeople’s Committee Le Van Thanh considered the Days as important to the bilateralrelations, noting that RoK visitors are increasingly interested in Hoi An andthe event will help attract more tourists to this city.
Meanwhile, a RoK-Vietnam cultural exchangeprogramme was held in Da Nang city on March 10. It also introduced the RoK’straditional and modern culture through various performances. Da Nang brought tothis event Tuong (classical drama) and traditional dances performed by artistsfrom the Nguyen Hien Dinh Theatre.-VNA
