Quang Nam to host int’l women’s volleyball tournament

Hanoi (VNA) - The International Women’s Volleyball Tournament - VTV Hoa SenSheet Metal Cup - will be held from August 3-11 in central Quang Nam provincewith the participation of seven clubs.

Thenational team of Vietnam are in Group A with Altay club from Kazakhstan andNational Taipei University. Group B includes NEC Club of Japan, Fujian fromChina and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korean (DPRK) and Australiannational teams.

They willcompete in a round robin format in the group stage, with the two top teamsstraight through to the semi-finals.

Thesecond-placed team of Group A will face the third-placed team of Group B in thefirst quarter-final match, and second-placed team of Group B will meet thethird-placed team of Group A in the second quarter-final.

Accordingto the organisers, this competition format will give all teams more chances toplay.

Thechampions will receive 10,000 USD, while the first runners-up will get 7,000USD and the second runners-up will have 5,000 USD.

The organiserswill also present awards for fair-play team and best individuals.

Lastyear, Vietnam beat DPRK 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-15) to take the trophy.-VNA

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

Hanoi Ao dai dance marks Vietnamese women’s day
