Hanoi (VNA) – The 12th National Party Congress held the closing session on January 28, the congress said in its press release the same day.

On behalf of the presidium, member of the 11th Politburo and President Truong Tan Sang chaired the session.

Guests invited to the session included former Party General Secretaries: Le Kha Phieu and Nong Duc Manh; former Politburo members and former Presidents: Le Duc Anh and Tran Duc Luong; former Politburo member and former National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Van An; along with former Politburo members, formers Secretaries of the Party Central Committee, former Vice Presidents, former Vice Chairmen of the NA, former Deputy Prime Ministers; former members of the Party Central Committee from the 6th tenure and earlier; and members of the 11th Central Committee’s Commission of Inspection.

Representatives of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, intellectuals, artists and writers, outstanding religious dignitaries and young people were also present at the event.

The session was also attended by foreign ambassadors, charges d’affaires and chief representatives of international organisations in Vietnam.

Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, member of the NA Standing Committee, Head of the NA Committee on Social Affairs and member of the secretariat of the congress announced the list of 42 more political parties, international organisations and friends that sent congratulation messages to the 12th National Party Congress.

As such, a total of 242 political parties, international organisations and friends have extended congratulations to the congress.

President Truong Tan Sang, member of the 11th Politburo, on behalf of the Presidium and the whole Congress, thanked political parties, international organisations and friends for their congratulation messages to the Communist Party of Vietnam and the 12th National Party Congress.

Party Central Committee member Thuan Huu, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper, member of the congress Secretariat, reported the voting results on some issues in the Congress’s documents.

Politburo member Dinh The Huynh, on behalf of the Presidium, reported the outcomes of the elections of the Politburo, the Party General Secretary, the Secretariat, the Inspection Commission and the commission’s head for the 12th tenure.

The 12th Party Central Committee made debut at the Congress.

Newly-elected Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, on behalf of the 12th Party Central Committee, expressed thanks to delegates for contributing their efforts to the success of the Congress.

Politburo member Tran Quoc Vuong, head of the Inspection Commission of the 12th tenure, and head of the congress Secretariat delivered the draft Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress.

All delegates voted to adopt the Resolution.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong delivered his closing speech.

The 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam concluded with great success.-VNA
