Hanoi (VNA) – People, officials and Party members showed their trust in the 12th Party Central Committee’s competence and capacity to steer the country towards prosperity with practical decisions and policies.

Nguyen Ngoc Hung, a resident in Hanoi’s Tay Ho district, said a majority of people believe that the new Party Central Committee (PCC), which was elected on January 26 during the ongoing 12th National Party Congress, will take on changes.

He explained that the average age of the newly elected PCC members is lower than their predecessors, and they have been undergoing targeted training.

Le Van Tan, Secretary of the Party cell of Nghia Tan ward in the capital city’s Cau Giay district, expressed his hope that the new crop of leaders will lead the country to the next level of development, along with firmly defending the nation’s territorial integrity.

For his part, Phan Van Do, a resident of Nghia Do ward, said he expects the young and intellectually competent members of the new PCC to work for the interests of the Party and the nation first and foremost – and stay immune to the influence of other group interests.

Lo Doan Kieu, 72, a retiree in Nguyen Trai precinct in the northern city of Ha Giang, said he believes the newly elected officials will have the talent and moral virtue to lead the country forward.

Hoang Long Xuyen, 100, a revolutionary veteran in Dong Hy town of the northern province of Thai Nguyen, said the Party’s future policies will spur the domestic economy forward and reinforce its organisation.

The 12th National Party Congress on January 26 announced the election outcomes for the 12th PCC, which comprises 180 official members and 20 alternate members.

The results showed that 100 members of the 11th PCC stayed in the new PCC, including seven Politburo members: Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Vice National Assembly Chairwomen Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and Tong Thi Phong, Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education Dinh The Huynh, and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan.
