Hundreds of delegations from ministries, agencies, mass organisations, localities and people of various walks of life lined up to pay their last respect to Politburo member and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Tran Dai Quang during memorial services in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and his home province of Ninh Binh on September 26.

Hanoi (VNA) – Hundreds of delegations fromministries, agencies, mass organisations, localities and people of variouswalks of life lined up to pay their last respect to Politburo member andPresident of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Tran Dai Quang during memorialservices in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and his home province of Ninh Binh onSeptember 26.  

Over the 45 years of his revolutionary career, the Stateleader spent more than 43 years working in the public security force, andassumed important leading positions for over 20 years.

In the funeral book, Politburo member and Minister of PublicSecurity, Sen. Lieut. Gen. To Lam wrote that the Central Public Security PartyCommittee, together with commanders, officers, non-commissioned officers andstaff of the people’s public security force, are saddened at the passing ofGeneral, Prof., Politburo Member, President Tran Dai Quang who headed the people’sarmed forces, permanent member of the Central Public Security Party Committee,former Secretary of the Central Public Security Party Committee, and formerMinister of Public Security. Lam described the deceased as an excellent leaderof the Party, State and people, an eminent commander of people’s public security force, an example of boundless loyalty to the Party, nation and peoplewho made dedication to the cause of national construction and defence for thesake of peace and well-being of the people.

At the National Funeral Hall at No.5 Tran Thanh Tong street,Hanoi, former Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan lauded President Quang as atalented leader with compassion, integrity and attention to compatriots andcomrades.

She said while chairing or joining dialogues with countriesor forums, President Quang always placed national interests above all.

Former General Directorate of Posts Nguyen Huy Luan attributedVietnam’s successes in external work over the past years to the President’sefforts which,  he said, helped improvethe country’s stature on international arena. In particular, President Quangsuccessfully chaired the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’Meeting 2017. During over 900 days in office, with concerted efforts, theleader left a deep impression on international friends.

Do Tin Nhiem, a native of Lai Dinh village, Cao Dai commune,Vinh Tuong district, the northern province of Vinh Phuc, said the President’scontributions to internal and external work were welcomed by the people andcontributed to strengthening public trust in the Party leadership and thefuture of the country.

Coming to the National Funeral Hall early in the morning, VuThi Thanh Hong from the Red Cross Society of Hanoi’s Thanh Xuan districtaffirmed that in the mind of herself and others, the State leader did his bestfor the revolutionary cause of the Party and national development.

Luu Ba Hoang, member of the standing board of the Ho ChiMinh Communist Youth Union of Hanoi’s Hoan Kiem district, said he feels thatthe President is always for the public.

In Ho Chi Minh City, Vice Chairwoman of the VietnamFatherland Front Central Committee Truong Thi Ngoc Anh vowed to the unite walksof life together to build a country of independence, self-reliance and territorialintegrity as desired by Uncle Ho, the Party Central Committee, the State andGovernment.

In his homeland in Hamlet 13, Quang Thien commune, Kim Sondistrict, Ninh Binh province, as of 11am on September 26, nearly 100delegations came to pay tribute to the President.

Having passed away, yet the President still stays in theheart and mind of Vietnamese people as a dedicated leader who was always closeto the people.-VNA
