Memorial ceremonies for President Quang in Malaysia, Bangladesh, Hong Kong

Respect-paying and memorial ceremonies for President Tran Dai Quang were organised at the Vietnamese Embassies in Malaysia and Bangladesh, and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Hong Kong, China, on September 26.

Hanoi (VNA) - Respect-paying and memorial ceremonies for President TranDai Quang were organised at the Vietnamese Embassies in Malaysia and Bangladesh,and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Hong Kong, China, on September 26.

The agencies also opened books of condolences and lowered the Vietnamese flag tohalf-mast.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia received more than 40 diplomatic delegationsof foreign countries in Malaysia to pay tribute to President Quang.

The guests expressed their condolences at the passing of the Vietnamese President,while appreciating his contributions to Vietnam as well as to strengthening friendshipbetween Vietnam and other countries.

Malaysian Deputy Foreign Minister Haji Marzuki Yahya sent his deep condolencesto the Party, State and people of Vietnam over the passing of President Quang.

Whilepraising President Quang for his contributions to enhancing Vietnam-Malaysiarelations, Haji said the departure of the President is a huge loss for not onlyVietnam but also ASEAN.

Inhis funeral oration in commemoration of President Quang, Vietnamese Ambassador toBangladesh Tran Van Khoa expressed his deep emotions and grief over the suddendeparture of the President, and his admiration for his diligent and devotedworking spirit, as well as his work to lift Vietnam-Bangladesh relations.

Representativesfrom the Ministries of Social Welfare and Foreign Affairs;  the Workers Party and the Communist Party ofBangladesh; and diplomats from China, Japan, Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia,Brunei,  the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Nepal,Maroc, Afghanistan, and the Vatican; those from the Bangladesh-Vietnam Chamberof Commerce and Industry and the Vietnamese community in the country also paid tributeto President Quang at the embassy.

Previously, on September 23, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister SheikhHasina of Bangladesh sent their condolences to Acting President Dang Thi NgocThinh and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc over the passing of President Quang.

Bangladeshi leaders expressed their sadness and grief over the departure of theVietnamese President, calling it a huge loss for the Communist Party of Vietnamand Vietnamese people.

At the VietnameseConsulate General in Hong Kong (China), staff ofthe agency held a minute’s silence and wrote in a book of condolences for PresidentQuang. 

Consul Tran Thanh Huan recalled the great contributions of President Quang to Vietnam’srevolutionary cause as well as to the national defence and construction.

In his note in the funeral book, Huan expressed deepcondolences over the passing of the President, saying President Quang was anexcellent leader and a loyal Party member.

Also on September 26, representatives from the Special Envoy's Office of China's Foreign Ministry inHong Kong, the authorities of  the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, consulatesgeneral of ASEAN member nations and diplomatic agencies of foreign countries inHong Kong paid tribute to President Quang.

Overseas Vietnamese people and students living and studying in Hong Kong also cameand wrote in the funeral book to remember the President.-VNA
