President Tran Dai Quang remembered in Europe

Many officials of international organisations and governments in Europe have paid tribute to President Tran Dai Quang at Vietnamese embassies in European countries.

Geneva (VNA) – Many officialsof international organisations and governments in Europe have paid tribute toPresident Tran Dai Quang at Vietnamese embassies in European countries.

In the funeral book opened by the Vietnam’sPermanent Mission to the United Nations, the World Trade Organisation andinternational organisations in Geneva, Switzerland, General Director of the UNOffice in Geneva Michael Moller sent his condolences to the Vietnamese peopleand Government, and the family and close friends of President Quang.

Ambassador and head of the Lao Mission toGeneva Kham-Inh Khitchadeth wrote that the Lao people will always remember thevaluable contributions of the President to strengthening ties between the twocountries.

Heads of the permanent missions of Cuba,Germany, Belgium, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Bulgaria,Singapore, Brunei, Syria, Montenegro and Ivory Coast, representatives from the missionsof Japan, Serbia, the International Organisation of the Francophone and the UNConference on Trade and Development, also came to the Vietnamese mission’sheadquarters to pay respect to President Tran Dai Quang.  

Many foreign ambassadors, chargé d’affaires,heads of diplomatic representative agencies and international organisations,leaders of the Vietnamese Association in Switzerland, Chairwoman of theSwitzerland – Vietnam Association Anjuska Weil and overseas Vietnamese visitedthe Vietnamese embassy in Bern to express their condolences.

Ambassador and head of the Swiss ForeignMinistry’s Reception Department Mauro Reina wrote in the funeral book opened bythe embassy that President Quang will be always remembered by Vietnamesepeople.

Earlier, Swiss President Alain Berset sent amessage of condolences Acting President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, expressing hisbelief that with trust, determination and commitment, the image of PresidentQuang will forever live in the mind of Vietnamese people.

Liechtenstein Ambassador to SwitzerlandDoris Frick conveyed the sympathy of Liechtenstein royal family, government andpeople to the Vietnamese State, government and people.

Memorial ceremonies were also held byVietnamese embassies in Belgium, the UK, Italy, France and Ukraine. Theembassies all opened funeral books on September 26 and 27.-VNA
