WashingtonDC (VNA) - The Vietnamese Embassy in the US on September 26 helda solemn respect-paying ceremony and opened thefuneral book for President Tran Dai Quang who passed away on September 21.
In his writing in the funeral book, Ambassador Ha Kim Ngoc expressed grief overthe passing of President Quang who made great contributions to the national constructionand defence and to the diplomacy in particular, stressing that the departure ofthe President is a great loss to the Vietnamese Party, State and people.
Crowds of representatives from the US administration,organisations and diplomatic offices ofmany countries in Washington DC came to pay tribute to the Vietnamese President,including those from the Department of Defence, the Department of State of theUS; the CommunistParty of the United States of America (CPUSA); the US BusinessCouncil; and ambassadors of ASEAN member nations.
Patricia Mahoney, Acting Deputy AssistantSecretary of the State stressed that President Quang was adevoted and dedicated leader, a great friend of the US, who always supports theexpansion of the Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership.
Meanwhile, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense of the USJoseph Felter expressed his honour to meet President Quang in early 2018. Heexpressed his deep grief at the sudden departure of the Vietnamese leader.
Emile M. Schepers, Head of CPUSA’s international departmentalso offered his condolences to the Party, State of Vietnam and the family ofPresident Quang.
The same day, many agencies of Canada, diplomatic delegations, friendshiporganizations and Vietnamese expats living in the country also came to paytribute to President Quang at the Vietnamese Embassy.
Ambassador Nguyen Duc Hoa and the staff of the embassy held aminute’s silence to remember President Quang.
In their writing in the funeral book, representatives fromdiplomatic offices of Russia, Cuba, India, Malaysia, Myanmar, Greece, Kazakhstan,Bangladesh, Algeria, Benin, Pakistan, Jamaica, Guyana, the Philippines, France,Italy, Croatia, Litva, Moldova, Ecudor, Madagascar and Iraq expressed their deepcondolences.
Also on September 26, the Vietnamese Embassy in Argentina arrangedrespect-paying ceremony and opened the funeral book for President Tran DaiQuang.
On behalf of the Argentinean government, Head of the Asia andOceania Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, wrote in the funeral book,praising the role of President Quang and sending his deep condolences to theVietnamese Party and State of Vietnam and the President’s family.
Many representatives from the Communist Party of Argentina, theArgentina-Vietnam Cultural Institute, those from embassies and diplomaticagencies of Cuba, Thailand, Indonesia, China, Russia, Malaysia, Poland, Sweden,Peru, El Salvador, Palestine, Belarus, Nicaragua, Turkey, and Mexico, andArgentina friends came to paid tribute the Vietnamese President. -VNA
