Meeting with voters in Ho Chi Minh City’s Districts 1, 3, 4on October 13 to prepare for the upcoming fourth session of the 14th National Assembly, the State leader said thanks to drastic directions of the PartyCentral Committee, the Politburo, the Central Steering Committee on CorruptionPrevention and Control and joint work among agencies concerned, seriouseconomic and corruption cases have been brought to the light.
He stressed the need to promptly discover negative phenomena and law violationsas well as strengthen supervision over duty fulfillment, especially personnelwork and administrative discipline.
As regards transport works under BOT model, he admitted thelack of transparency in project approval and price appraisal. He also sharedvoters’ concern over unreasonable toll collection in several localities thathas recently worried the public.
The Party Central Committee and government have drasticallydirected comprehensive supervision over BOT projects, he assured, adding thatlegal regulations will be fine-tuned to fix shortcomings, he said.
According to him, food hygiene and safety has been addedinto the list of fields under utmost supervision by the legislature, and thegovernment must report to the NA the outcomes of State management in theregard.
At the meeting, voters were reported that the NA plans to adopt five bills,give opinions on nine draft laws and discuss socio-economic issues andsupervision over other important issues.
President Tran Dai Quang said in the amended Law onComplaints, forms of complaint application and regulations on protectingcomplainants have been added. Meanwhile, in the revised Law on CorruptionPrevention and Control, those subject to asset filing and accountability forasset origin have been extended.
The leader added that the Party Central Committee’s sixthplenum issued a resolution on continued renovation and arrangement of the politicalsystem’s apparatus towards streamlined, efficient and effective operations.-VNA
