Hanoi (VNA) - Tourism is seeing a revival. It is worthy to note that the National Tourism Year 2022 with the theme of “Quang Nam – Green Tourist Destination” will officially open on Hoi An Memory island March 26. The event is expected to kick off a vigorous recovery of Vietnam’s green tourism sector.

Every preparation has been readied to create hundreds of impressive and enjoyable activities and programmes.

Special, significant opening ceremony

According to the Quang Nam Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, preparations are all done for the opening ceremony. The focus is an art programme with the theme of “Quang Nam – Green Tourism Destination” to be held in the evening of March 26, with the performance of some 600 artists.

The 90-minute programme will tell the story of “Green Tourism”, stretching from the mountains and forests to the sea and the islands. The event will show local culture and daily life, landscapes, local customs and practices. This goes hand in hand with awareness on the protection of the environment, reducing trash, and developing safe and friendly tourism of Vietnam in general and Quang Nam in particular.

According to the organising board, the programme will be performed at the Hoi An Memory stage, using the latest in sound and light technology. The drum performance will see the participation of about 200 drummers, supported by a Vietnamese traditional musical instrument orchestra.

n impressive stage and a significant performance promise an attractive opening evening of the tourism cultural festival. A fireworks display, which will last for about 15 minutes, will conclude the opening ceremony of the National Tourism Year.

Director of the Quang Nam Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Tran Thanh Hong said the National Tourism Year 2022 is a cultural, economic, and tourism event on a national scale. It is also the biggest annual tourism event on the national stage. This will set the stage for tourism to recover and develop, helping raise awareness of destinations in the province in particular and throughout the country in general.

More than 200 activities throughout the year

National Tourism Year 2022 will include 10 national scale events of a total 200 to be held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, other ministries and central authorities. Another 138 activities will be held by 42 provinces and central-level cities. For Quang Nam province alone, it will organise a chain of 64 activities.

On March 26, municipal authorities of Hoi An city in the province will hold a ceremony to receive the certificate on the classification of Hoi An communal house as a provincial-level heritage. They will also launch an activity in response to the “Earth Hour” by turning off unnecessary electric appliances for 60 minutes. This is an annual event in the city aimed at raising social awareness on energy saving against climate change. The event helps people sense the link between humans and nature, showing responsibility toward the environment and future generations.

An art performance will be staged at the Cau pagoda area on the evening of March 27, reenacting part of the daily life activities of locals with reciprocal chants and old-fashioned costumes display.
