“Nón lá” or conical hat is a traditional symbol of Vietnamese people. They were originally made to shield wearers from sunshine or rain.
The production of these conicals hats takes place in almost every region in Vietnam, each with its own features woven into the process of creating this special piece of headwear.
However, among them, Hue is considered the most famous for creating the unique conical hats with poems or inscriptions on them. Hue conical hat, especially the “poem conical hat” (nón bài thơ) is not a mere headwear but a work of artistic craftsmanship.
