Players set for Carom tournament next week

More than 50 players will compete in the third Binh Duong International Three-Cushion Carom Billiards Tournament to be held in southern Binh Duong province between August 15-18, according to Do Van Trung, head of the organising board.

There will be 47 domestic players and fiveforeign players, including the best players from the Republic of Koreaand Japan, like Cho Jea-ho, Heo Jung-han, Arai Tasuo and Takeshima O.

Players will compete in a knock-out form through the tournament.

Winners will walk away with total prizes of 100 million VND (4,800 USD).

"Thisis a chance for domestic players to hone their skills for the NationalSports Games to be held in December and the 28th SEA Games in Singaporenext June," said Huynh Van Hiep, tournament's chief referee.-VNA

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Archaeologists from the Vietnam Institute of Archaeology, the Hanoi Museum and the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities have announced the discovery of over 70 graves from the pre-Dong Son period and 40 graves from Dong Son period at the Vuon Chuoi archaeological relic in Kim Chung commune, Hoai Duc district.

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

Hanoi Ao dai dance marks Vietnamese women’s day
