Havana (VNA) – Photos on Vietnam and Vietnam-Chile relations arebeing exhibited at the Chilean National Congress’s headquarters in Valparaiso.
Speaking at the exhibition’s openingceremony on March 20, Vietnamese Ambassador to Chile Nguyen Ngoc Son thankedthe Chilean National Congress, the Chile-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’Group and the Chile-Vietnam Culture Institute for helping organise theweek-long exhibition.
He hailed the significance of theevent to celebrate the 48th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties(March 25, 1971) and to mark 50 years since the historic meeting between ChileanPresident Salvador Allende and Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh in Hanoi in May1969.
According to Son, the photos show theclose and profound relationship between the two countries, and promote theimage of a peaceful, friendly and hospitable Vietnam.
Chilean Congresswoman Karol Cariola,also President of the Chile-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group, expressedher desire to maintain coordination with the Vietnamese embassy and theChile-Vietnam Culture Institute in organising people-to-people diplomacyactivities.
Also at the opening ceremony,participants were treated with Vietnamese cuisine and art performances onVietnam and late President Ho Chi Minh.
After the ceremony, Ambassador Son visitedVice President of the Chilean Senate Alfonso de Urresti to discussparliamentary cooperation and measures to boost the two countries’partnership.-VNA
