Hanoi (VNA) - A Philippine art troupe is due to perform in Hanoi and Thanh Hoa city on August 17-18.
The performances take place at the Hanoi Opera House and Lam Sơn Theatre to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and the Philippines.
The 12-member troupe will perform a diversified repertoire such as opera, classical pieces from across the world and pieces by Philippine musicians.
The Philippine musicians who will perform are Antonio Molina, Emesto Vallejo, Manuel Velez and Felipe P De Leon, besides Augusto Espino.
Molina and Leon have been awarded the National Artist of the Philippine title.
Molina’s symphony entitled Preludio y Romanza will be played by musicians Renato B Lucas and Luci Magalit.
Singer Tephanie Aguilar, flautist Antonio Maigue and pianist Gabriel Allan Paguirigan will perform a song by Leon.
Pianists Paguirigan and Luci Abakan Magalit will play a piece by musician Espino.
Talented pianist Magalit has won many prizes such as the Grand Prize of the Ultimate Pianist Competition 2006.
She is a two-time recipient of the Outstanding Performance Award at the Amati Music Festivals in New York.
A song entitled Mutya ng Pasig by Nicanor Abelardo, which is a signature Philippine love song, will be performed to close the performance.
All the artists, including a guitarist, two violinists and a viola player, will participate in the performance.
The artists are outstanding young Philippine musicians and prize winners at the National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA).
NAMCYA is the Philippines’ most prestigious competition for young musicians. For more than four decades, it has identified and nurtured the musical genius of the country’s youth, producing a wealth of accomplished musicians who have won and gained considerable experience from their NAMCYA participation and are now recognised as consummate artists in the local and international musical scene.-VNA
