Hanoi (VNA)– Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on August 23 attended a banquethosted by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), during whichhe called on Indonesian enterprises to invest more to Vietnam.
He said that afterover 30 years of doi moi (renewal), Vietnam has become a developing countrywith middle income, good economic growth, stable socio-political stability andstrengthened defence and security as well as enhanced position in the worldarena.
Highlighting abundantbusiness opportunities in Vietnam, the Party chief said that Vietnam hassignificantly improved its business and investment environment and becomeattractive to investors. Vietnam is striving for average economic growth of6.5-6.7 percent each year in the next five years, and per capita GDP of3,200-3,500 USD by 2020.
He clarified thatIndonesia is now the fourth largest partner of and the fifth biggest investorsof Vietnam in ASEAN, stressing that Vietnam highly values efforts of Indonesianfirms and believes in the prospects of bilateral investment ties.
Vietnam alwayswelcomes Indonesian investors and businesses, he underlined.
He also hailed thefruitful outcomes of the seventh meeting of the Vietnam-Indonesia Committee forEconomic, Scientific and technological cooperation, expressing his belief thatthe meeting helps boost friendship and affiliation between the two countries.
At the event, IndonesianMinister of Villages, Underdeveloped Regions and Transmigration Marwan Jafarsaid that Indonesia and Vietnam are strong in some agricultural products andprocessing such as rubber planting and production, stressing that cooperation willhelp both sides further develop.
Meanwhile, CiputraGroup President Budiarsa Sastrawinata, who is also the President of theIndonesia-Vietnam Friendship Association, called for the investment ofVietnamese firms in Indonesia. He pledged to help connect Indonesian andVietnamese partners, thus strengthening connections between people andbusinesses of both sides.-VNA
