Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle vows to back ties with Vietnam

The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) will continue supporting Indonesia-Vietnam strategic partnership toward new achievements, said the party’s President Megawati Sukarnoputri.

Jakarta (VNA) – The IndonesianDemocratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) will continue supporting Indonesia-Vietnamstrategic partnership toward new achievements, said the party’s President MegawatiSukarnoputri.

She made the remark when meeting with PartyGeneral Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, who is in an official visit to Indonesia atthe invitation of President Joko Widodo, at her private home in Jakarta on August23.

General Secretary Trong told his host aboutoutcomes of his meetings with President Joko Widodo and other leaders ofIndonesia, during which the two sides reached high consensus on the policy todeepen the bilateral strategic partnership and measures to bolster the tiesacross bilateral and multilateral cooperation spheres.

The party chief urged both countries to workharder to implement agreements secured by high-ranking officials and sustainthe momentum they have created for the development of their relationship in allfields.

He stressed that the Communist Party ofVietnam values and wants to expand affiliations with the PDI-P, adding that itis an important political basis to boost relations between Vietnam andIndonesia.

For her part, Megawati Sukarnoputri saidher party will continue to give priority to boosting relations with Vietnam andeffectively implementing agreements secured during the Vietnamese Party leader’scurrent visit.

She agreed with her guest on measures toboost cooperation between the two parties and expressed her wish to send more PDI-Pdelegations to Vietnam for experience exchanges on governance of the country.

On the occasion, Trong invited MegawatiSukarnoputri to visit Vietnam again.-VNA
