National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung conferred the Labour Order, first class, on the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission during its national patriotic emulation congress and 65th founding anniversary in Hanoi on September 30.
Outstanding units and individuals were also honoured with medals and certificates of merit and the insignia “For the economic cause of the Party” on the occasion by the Prime Minister.
Founded on September 30, 1950 led by Pham Van Dong, the Commission is tasked with studying and recommending economic and financial policies to central authorities.
Over the past 65 years, the Commission has performed its mission as a strategic socio-economic think-tank of the Party Central Committee, Politburo and Secretariat.
Its achievements are associated with the national patriotic emulation movement raised by generations of staff in the motto “Solidarity, brainpower, renovation and efficiency”.
Addressing the ceremony, Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Le Hong Anh asked the Commission to continue updating officers and Party members on the Party guidelines and State laws and policies on emulation and commendation.
The group was requested to continue spreading the patriotic emulation movement and the drive “Study and follow the moral examples of President Ho Chi Minh” while heeding Party building efforts.
The Commission must thoroughly prepare socio-economic development-related documents for submission to the 12th National Party Congress. They are due to be adopted during subsequent conferences of the Party Central Committee, he said, adding that the documents should focus on initiatives to put the country on the right track for rapid and sustainable development and avoid the middle-income trap.
It was also required to take initiative on updating and forecasting regional and global developments, making positive contributions to policymaking that is relevant to the country’s realities.
In 2013, the Commission undertook all 12 assigned research tasks, including assessing the report on the implementation of the resolution from the 11th Party National Congress on socio-economic development for 2011-2013.
Last year, it produced 15 initiatives which were submitted to the seventh and eighth sessions of the Party Central Committee, as well as the Politburo and Secretariat.-VNA
