"The festival will bethe first international important art and culture event to be held in Ninh Binhprovince," said Tong Quang Thin, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’sCommittee and head of the festival organising committee.
"This is a good chancefor local people to access international-standard culture and art and anopportunity to popularise tourism in the province," he said.
The festival will gatherabout 24 troupes from professional theatres and art schools, including 15foreign and nine Vietnamese. The artists will stage dances lasting from 20 to40 minutes that will be judged on artistic merit.
The foreign troupes will include Colombian Periferia Dance, Egyptian Port-SaidFolk Dance, Japanese Mariko Tosa Modern Ballet Academy, and Russia’s VezelitsaArt Troupe. Others will be from Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Singapore, Indonesia,the Republic of Korea, the Philippines, Laos, Myanmar and Malaysia.
Vietnamese artists will befrom the Vietnam Dance College, Military Culture and Arts College,southern-based Sao Bien Folk Dance and Sing Theatre, Vietnam National Balletand Opera and provincial troupes from Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Hoa Binh, Son La andTuyen Quang.
The sixth panel will be ofveteran artists and researchers including an artist from the Republic ofTatarstan, Aleksander Barmin; Swedish researcher in dance theory, Katarina Lionfrom the Theatre Department at the University of Stockholm; Dr Chua Soo Pong,chairman of the Singapore International Foundation; Tian Bei Bei, deputy-headof College Music in Capital Normal University in Beijing; People’s Artist DoanVuong Linh and the National Ballet’s director Pham Anh Phuong, who will chairthe panel.
The festival is held tointroduce the unique identity of dances from other countries.-VNA
