The 2015 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship opened in the northern province of Ha Nam on September 12.
Jointly held by the Vietnam Volleyball Association and the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the annual continental competition attracted nine teams divided into two groups.
Thong Tin Lienvietpostbank (Vietnam), Zhettysu (Kazakhstan), Bangkok Glass (Thailand) and Taiwan Power (Taiwan, China) are set to compete in group A while Hisamitsu (Japan), Zhejiang (China), 4.25 Sports Club (the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea), Islamic Azad University (Iran) and Petro Blaze Spikers (the Philippines) play in group B.
After the opening ceremony, volleyball aficionados had a chance to enjoy two Group A matches between the host Thong Tin Lienvietpostbank and Taiwan Power, and between Zhettysu and Bangkok Glass.
Earlier, in Group B, Zhejiang beat Islamic Azad University 3-0 and 4.25 Sports Club won Petro Blaze Spikers 3-0.
The winner of the tournament will pocket the only ticket to compete in the 2016 edition of the FIVB’s Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship, which is slated for October 2016.
Free entrance tickets are being offered for all matches during the event.
