Hanoi (VNA) - The concert titled “New Worlds” that is due to take place at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music on January 22 will open the performing season of 2016 by the Saigon Philharmonic Orchestra.
The Saigon Philharmonic Orchestra launches its 2016 season with a celebration of old world traditions in a contemporary light.
The concert led by music director and conductor Adrian Tan will present to music lovers the world premiere of Vietnamese composer Dinh Lang’s Concerto for Dan Tranh “The Endless Fields”, with acclaimed virtuoso Nguyen Hai Phuong; and the orchestral debut of prize-winning young pianist Tran Yen Nhi in Franz Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1, according to Saigon Giai phong daily.
The highlight of the show is Antonin Dvorak’s ever-popular Symphony No. 9, “From the New World” with the African-American folk music. It will be performed by music director and conductor Adrian Tan, and the Saigon Philharmonic Orchestra.-VNA
