Hanoi (VNA) – The new Myanmar government, which is to take office in late March, will cut the number of ministries to 23 from the previous 36.

Some ministries will be merged, however the number of ministries' employees will not be cut. They will be reinforced to other ministries in need.

The National League for Democracy (NLD) which dominates in the parliament will take up 30-40 percent of the new government cabinet members, and the rest will come from other parties and outside experts.

Members of the new government cabinet will be announced on March 6, four days before the presidential election takes place on March 10.

Myanmar held a general election to elect parliamentary representatives on November 8 last year, in which the NLD won an absolute majority of the parliamentary seats.-VNA
