Hanoi (VNA) – The National Assembly will work to enable legislators and people of Vietnam and Japan to expand exchanges and cooperation for intensified extensive strategic partnership, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said.

The NA Vice Chairwoman was speaking to Tsutomu Takebe, special advisor to the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance in Hanoi on March 8.

She praised the role as well as contributions of the special advisor to the two countries’ cultural and educational ties, naming the Vietnam-Japan University project, the cherry blossom festival, and the Japanese culture festival in Vietnam.

Ngan said she is delighted with the growing cooperation between the two law-making bodies as well as regular visit exchanges at all levels and efficient joint research activities.

She expressed her belief that the extensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan will be more active and practical, noting that the Vietnam-Japan University project will become a symbol of that partnership.

Special advisor Tsutomo Takebe informed his host of the progress of the Vietnam-Japan University project, which is initiated by the two countries’ law-making bodies. The project reflects aspirations and wishes for more exchange activities and better understanding of young Vietnamese and Japanese generations.

After launching the first MA course at the university in this September, the Japanese side will work together with Vietnamese concerned agencies in effort to turn the university into an international university, he said.

Earlier, special advisor Tsutomo Takebe was welcomed by President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan.-VNA
