Hanoi (VNA) – Ly Hoang Nam jumped 18 spots to world No 683 in the latest Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) men’s singles rankings, announced on October 10.
Another Vietnamese representative, Nguyen Hoang Thien dropped 28 spots to world No 2,002. In the men’s doubles category, Nam ranks 818th, while Thien ranks 901st.
Nam meets Maxime Tabatruong of France, world No 638 in the first round of the Vietnam Open on October 11.
Nam, who won the Wimbledon boys’ doubles, aims to break the top 500 this year.
The Vietnam Open has total prize money of 50,000 USD and features some strong tennis players, including Jaziri Malek of Tunisia, world No 55, Sela Dudi of Israel, world No 70, Daniel Taro of Japan, world No 88 and Jordan Thompson of Australia, world No 95.-VNA
