NA Standing Committee opens 34th session

The National Assembly Standing Committee, 14th tenure, opened its 34th session on May 8 under the chair of NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Hanoi (VNA) – The NationalAssembly Standing Committee, 14th tenure, opened its 34th session on May 8 under the chair of NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Addressing the session, the lastbefore the NA’s 7th session, Chairwoman Ngan said the workload isheavy as Standing Committee must review the remaining items on the plannedagenda of the NA’s 7th session and examine the preparations for the session.

The NA Standing Committee is scheduledto continue discussing the draft law on amendments and supplements to somearticles of the Law on Public Investment, and start debating the draft LabourCode (revised), and Vietnam’s joining the International Labour Organisation’sRight to Organise and Collective Bargaining Convention No.98.

Members of the committee areexpected to review a report on the settlement of voters’ opinions sent to thelegislature’s sixth session, and another on voters’ opinions sent to theseventh session.

They will also exchange opinionson the Government’s report on adding assessments on the implementation of the2018 socio-economic development and state budget plan, and assessing theimplementation of the socio-economic development and state budget plan in thefirst months of 2019.

Participants will consider theallocation of funds from the state budget to local budgets for road managementand maintenance, and the foreign capital supplement of 2019 state budgetestimates for the central province of Ha Tinh.

The NA Standing Committee is scheduledto approve a list of projects using the reserve middle-term public investmentfor 2016-2020 from the state budget, as well as the addition of a new list tothe middle-term public investment for 2016-2020; while also discussing the useof 10 trillion VND (431.7 million USD) saved from decreases in investments forthe nation’s important projects under the legislature’s ResolutionNo.71/2018/QH14.

 In addition, the committee will also considerthe establishment of several administrative units in the southern province ofDong Nai, including Dau Giay township in Thong Nhat district, Nhon Trachtownship in Nhon Trach district, and six wards in Bien Hoa city

Following the openingformalities, Vice Chairman of the NA Phung Quoc Hien chaired the discussion onthe Government’s reports supplementing the assessment of the implementation ofthe 2018 socio-economic development plans and State budget, along withevaluation of socio-economic performance in the first months of 2019.-VNA
