Can Tho, (VNA) –Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan held meetings withvoters and people in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on April 26, as part ofher trip to acquire voters’ opinions ahead of the 7th session of theNational Assembly.
At the meetings, Can Thoresidents were briefed on the work of NA deputies of Can Tho since after the NA’s6th session and the planned agenda of the NA’s 7th session.
The residents took the occasionto voice their concern and opinions on the fight against corruption, healthinsurance, investment in the agricultural sector, the morality and lifestyle ofsome certain groups among young people, drug crime and school violence, amongother issues.
Several voters in Nhon Nghiacommune expressed special concern about the impact of climate change on theMekong Delta, as seen in the serious intrusion of salt water and the decreaseof water resources. They asked the NA and relevant agencies to take appropriatemeasures to help the region adapt to climate change.
Regarding this problem, the NAChairwoman said the NA will allocate financial resources to fund measures toaddress salt water intrusion and erosion. She noted that a conference will soonbe convened to review the implementation of tasks set at the conference on sustainabledevelopment of the Mekong Delta in adaptation to climate change several yearsago.
In reply to voters’ concern overthe unhealthy lifestyle of some young people, particularly school violence,Chairwoman Ngan urged all-level Party committees, authorities, schools, familiesand society join hand to stop and prevent the degradation of morality.-VNA
