At a meeting with Yangon Region administrative, legislativeand judicial officials on July 29, President U Win Myint said: “Only throughthe establishment of a democratic federal union can there be peace in thecountry, can the states and regions develop proportionately and in tandem, canthe union develop and exist forever,” the Myanmar News Agency reported.
The President called on the administrative, legislative andjudicial sectors to ensure security for the people, as well as development,stability and peace of the country in addition to freedom, justice and equalityin a democratic system.
He said that the administrative sector needs to support ruleof law and should be according to the laws, adding it should serve the people,safeguard and protect the people and protect human rights.
When the legislative sector prepares a bill, it must benefitthe people and the country and must be in accord with the country’s situation,said President U Win Myint.
The Myanmar leader stressed that the judicial sector needs tobe free from bias and corruption and all are equal in the face of the lawwhether they are rich, poor, with or without power or authority.
President U Win Myint was sworn in to office on March 30,becoming the 10th president of Myanmar since 1948.
In his inaugural speech, the Presidentpromised to pursue three priorities, including law and order restorationand improvement of the people’s socio-economic life; nationalreconciliation and peace; and amendment of the State Constitution which is thefoundation for a democratic and federal union.-VNA
