The move aims to seek suggestions from civil service organisations (CSO) andpolitical parties as well as cooperation with them in the electoral process forthe general election in the Southeast Asian country.
Speaking at a meeting with the CSOsand political parties in Nay Pyi Taw on July 2, UEC Chairman U Hla Thein said thedraft strategic plan has 11 chapters, focusing on the strong and weak points,advantages and challenges of the previous elections.
U Hla Thein urged the CSOs to play anactive role in the electoral process and cooperate in compiling voting list andvoting education, promoting inclusiveness as well as monitoring the election.
For the last general election in2015, the UEC drew up the 2013-2018 strategic plan.
In the November 2015 general election, the National League for Democracy led byAung San Suu Kyi won an absolute majority of the parliamentary seats.-VNA
