Beijing (VNA) – China and Myanmar haveagreed to maintain peace and security in their border area.
The agreement was reached by Chinese ForeignMinister Wang Yi and Myanmar’s Minister for Office of the State Counsellor UKyaw Tint Swe during a meeting in Beijing on June 28.
Wang Yi said the bilateral comprehensivestrategic cooperation has been significantly deepened over the years.
He called on the two sides to maintainhigh-level delegation exchanges, enhance collaboration and forge ahead with theconstruction of the China-Myanmar economic corridor.
As a supporter of Myanmar's peace process, Chinawill continue to push forward peace talks, the Chinese foreign ministeraffirmed.
China supports Myanmar and Bangladesh to solvethe Rakhine State issue through negotiation, Wang said, adding that China willcontinue to provide help.
For his part, U Kyaw Tint Swe, who is visitingChina, expressed his hope to strengthen communication with China and maintainstability in the shared border area.-VNA
