Hanoi (VNA) - Myanmar's Union Election Commission (UEC) announced 179 more elected parliament representatives to three levels of the parliament on November 10.
Of the 33 parliament representatives elected to the House of Nationalities, the opposition National League for Democracy (NLD) took 29, while the ruling Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) took two. The remaining two were shared by an independent candidate and an ethnic party.
Of the 34 parliament representatives elected to the House of Representatives, the NLD dominated with 29, the USDP two. The Shan Nationalities Democracy Federation (SNDF) won two and the Zomi Congress for Democracy (ZCD) took one.
Of the 112 parliament representatives elected in the regional or state parliament, the NLD took 95; the USDP, nine; the SNDF, four; and the ZCD, one. Meanwhile, the Kachin State Democracy Party won two and the Mon National Party earned one.
The election commission has thus far announced a total of 285 parliament representatives elected , of which the NLD has secured a total of 249 seats at three levels.
The same day, a delegation of EU officials in Myanmar observing the voting and counting process hailed the election as remarkable and transparent.
One hundred and fifty observers from the EU went to 500 polling stations across Myanmar to observe the historic election on November 8.
The delegation will stay until December to release a final report on the election.-VNA
