Hanoi (VNA) - Myanmar's Union Election Commission (UEC) announced 106 parliamentarians -elect on November 10, the first day of counting the ballots.

Of the 54 seats in the House of Representatives, the opposition National League for Democracy (NLD) dominated with 49, mostly in the Yangon region, while that of the ruling Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) took three. The Wa Democratic Party and Kachin State Democracy Party had one each.

The NLD also earned 47 among the 52 seats in Region or State Parliaments, the USDP won three and the Wa Democratic Party, two.

So far, the NLD has secured a total of 96 parliamentary seats in two levels.

The 106 people announced on November 10 will become parliament representatives in Yangon, Bago, Mandalay and Ayeyawaddy regions and the Shan state.

According to the UEC, 6,038 candidates representing 91 registered political parties and 310 independent candidates ran for more than 1,000 seats in parliament and elected bodies at different levels.-VNA
