The event is being organised by HCMCity’s Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and HCM City Television (HTV).
The show will present songspraising the country and its islands and seas, featuring veteran singers suchas Thanh Thuy and Nguyen Phi Hung and young artist Vo Ha Tram, among others.
The programme will include ameeting with soldiers who patrol the country’s borders and seas.
Trieu Le Khanh, Vice Chairwomanof the city’s Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, said: “We are looking toraise 35 billion VND (1.5 million USD) this year to support the people andsoldiers living and working in border areas and islands.”
The committee aims to bring cleanwater to seven border provinces, and build cultural houses on Da Nam island in TruongSa (Spratly) Archipelago.
It also plans to build 60 housesfor the needy and for soldiers who live and work near the border in northernmountainous provinces.
In 2017, the committee raisedover 30 billion VND (1.3 million USD), according to Khanh.
It has built a training room forthe Submarine Brigade 189 of the Vietnam People’s Navy, and has also broughtclean water to five border provinces and provided a solar energy system for theDac O Border Station in Binh Phuoc province’s Bu Gia Map district.
The music gala will take place at7:30pm at the HTV Theatre and will be broadcast live on HTV1 and HTV9.-VNS/VNA
