Da Nang (VNA) – Multisportcompetitions for both adults and children, including the popular Ironman race,are schedule to hit the central coastal city of Da Nang on May 7.

More than 1,250 athletes from 52 countrieswill race in VNG Ironman 70.3 Vietnam, which was first introduced in Da Nang in2015. Of the total, 330 racers are from Vietnam.

The competition organiser, Sunrise EventsVietnam, said competitors will compete in a 1.9km ocean swim near the Son Thuybeach, a two-loop 90km bike race and a 21km run along the coastline.

Director of the Da Nang Department ofCulture and Sports  Huynh Van Hung saidthe success of the Ironman race in the past two years have helped it to becomean annual event of the city in five years.

He added that Sunrise Events Vietnam willcontinue to receive support from the authorities to build racing routes as wellas to ensure security, environmental protection and health services, in a bidto make the city one of the best venues for the competition in Asia.

Along the Ironman 70.3, another triathlon,the Sunrise Sprint, in its Da Nang debut, will treat athletes to a shortercourse of 750m on the ocean, 20km on bikes and 5km on foot.

Sporty children will find their playgroundwith the Ironkids race, which enables them to run and participate in aquathlons.A 150m swim and 2km run course is designated for young athletes between 11 and14 years old, while the routes for younger children from six to ten are reducedby half.-VNA

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Archaeologists from the Vietnam Institute of Archaeology, the Hanoi Museum and the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities have announced the discovery of over 70 graves from the pre-Dong Son period and 40 graves from Dong Son period at the Vuon Chuoi archaeological relic in Kim Chung commune, Hoai Duc district.

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

Hanoi Ao dai dance marks Vietnamese women’s day

Vietnam attends UNESCO Executive Board’s 220th session in France
