“Mui Du Du Xanh” (The Scent of Green Papaya), a movie by Vietnamese-French director Tran Anh Hung, has ranked among the Busan International Film Festival’s top 100 Asian movies.
The 20th Busan International Film Festival presented Asian Cinema 100 for the Special Programme in Focus this year to celebrate its history.
The programme is a collaboration project between the film festival and the Busan Cinema Centre to shed light on the value of Asian films.
Produced in 1993, the movie was about a little girl coming of age as a teenager and finding love with a pianist. The film was set in Saigon in 1950.
It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and won the Golden Camera Award at the 1993 Cannes Film Festival.
The movie ranks 66th on the Asian Cinema 100 list.-VNA
