HCM City (VNA) – More than 10,000 people joined the Fun Run forCharity, 18th edition held by British Business Group Vietnam (BBGV), inDistrict 7 in Ho Chi Minh City on September 30.
Runners and walkers divided in three categories for men, women and teenagerscompleted a 5 kilometre race.
This year’s event raised over 1 billion VND (43,000 USD) for charitableactivities.
According to the organising board, over the past 17 years, the BBGV hasraised about 10 billion VND for charitable activities in Vietnam. The events attractedmore than 100,000 people.
In 2017, the Fund Run for Charity in HCM City drew 10,000 participants, raisingnearly 1 billion VND.
With funding, the programme provided the Saigon Children charitableorganisation with 12 scholarships worth 100 million VND to help needy students.It also provided scholarships worth over 170 million VND for 112 femalestudents in difficult background in southern Hau Giang province, while assisting270 million VND to build a kindergarten in Da Bop village in northern Dien Bienprovince, and cooperating with Loerto organisation to upgrade toilets in A PhuHoi primary school in southern An Giang.-VNA
