(Photo: VNA)Hanoi(VNA) - Monsoon Music Festival (MMF), Vietnam’s biggest music event, will nowbe celebrated annually as part of an ambitious plan to develop culture in thecapital through 2020, with a vision to 2030.
The plan was recently approved by Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee NguyenDuc Chung.
Since its debut in 2014, MMF has attracted thousands of music lovers from Vietnamand other Asian countries thanks to its diversity of music styles. Someinternational big names have performed at MMF, including the all-femaleAustralian/British string quartet Bond, Grammy-winning soul singer Joss Stoneand the famous German rock band Scorpions.
The festival also aims to introduce new music projects and offer a playgroundfor different generations to share their passion for music in the space of aworld cultural heritage, the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long.
Hanoi will also hold other annual cultural events, like an international filmfestival, cherry blossom festival and a Vietnam Airlines Classic Hanoi Concert.
The city will also preserve and promote traditional art forms in combinationwith modern ones; and encourage the establishment of enterprises, particularthose focused on music, arts and event organisation. The artists will receivecity support.
To establish an art market, the city will build an auction centre to train artspecialists meeting both domestic and international management and judgmentstandards.
In terms of cultural tourism, Hanoi will turn the Ba Vi–Suoi Hai touristattraction into a national tourism centre in the 2025-2030 period, hoping towelcome 30 million tourists in 2020, of whom over 5 million will beinternational tourists.-VNA
