Hanoi (VNA) - Nguyen Tien Minh and Vu Thi Trang brought their gold medals home after winning in the finals of the Yonex Sunrise Vietnam International Challenge on June 5 in Hanoi.
No 1 Minh defeated No 2 Tzu Wei Wang of Chinese Taipei 22-20, 21-16 in the men’s singles match.
Trang, No 2 seed, won 19-21, 21-19, 21-13 over No 7 Saena Kawakami of Japan in the women’s singles class.
No 6 Yuki Fukushima and Chiharu Shida beat No 2 duo Shiho Tanaka and Koharu Yonemoto 28-26, 21-15 in the all-Japanese women’s doubles category.
Also, Malaysian Yew Sin Ong and Ee Yi Tao, the No 6 pair, trounced Japan’s Kenya Mitsuhashi and Yuta Watanabe 21-19, 21-14 in the men’s doubles discipline.
Watanabe then pocketed his second gold medal in the mixed doubles pool, when pairing with Arisa Higashino to easily defeat Thai duo Tinn Isriyanet and Pacharapun Chochuwong 21-16, 21-14.-VNA
