Hanoi (VNA) –Ong Soon Seng fromMalaysia won the 70km category of the Tam Dao Mountain Trail, which concludedin Tam Dao town in the northern province of Vinh Phuc on June 25.
Seng of Asia Trail Master team took the leadwith a timing of 9 hours and 1 minute.
Cao Ngoc Ha, a Vietnamese amateur runner of LongDistance Runners team, finished second, 20 minutes after Seng.
Yuen Wan Ho Isaac (Hong Kong) of Asia TrailMaster team and Ha’s teammate were the runners-up.
With this result, Seng has been listed No 1 among the top 10 of the Asia TrailMaster Championship, while Ha entered the top 5.
Ha won the Vietnam Jungle Marathon (VJM) held inPu Luong Nature Reserve in the central province of Thanh Hoa last month. Hefinished third in February’s Ultra Trail Koh Chang in Thailand. Last year, Hafinished second at the Vietnam Mountain Marathon (VMM) in Sa Pa district, the northernmountainous province of Lao Cai.
Asia Trail Master is an annual series of trailrunning races, managed by Kuai Sports Promotions Ltd in Hong Kong and featuringa championship based on a points system.
Three events held in Vietnam, namely VJM, VMM and Tam Dao Mountain Trail,belong to Asia Trail Master’s system.
“This tournament was more difficult than Iexpected. Tam Dao has beautiful roads but has many slopes. Seng is very strong.I need to improve many things if I take part in a bigger event,” said Ha.
The event attracted more than 200 runnerscompeting in 70km, 42km, 21km and 10km categories.-VNA
