Japanese musicians to play Hennessy Concert

Japan’s Miura Fumiaki, one of the most talented violinists of his generation, will perform at the Hanoi Opera House with renowned pianist Akira Eguchi on June 4.

 Hanoi,  (VNA) - Japan’s Miura Fumiaki, one of the most talented violinists ofhis generation, will perform at the Hanoi Opera House with renowned pianistAkira Eguchi on June 4.

Theartists will play Antonin Dvorak’s Romance, Mozart’s Sonata for Violin andPiano, Igor Stravinsky’s Divertimento for Violin and Piano from the composer’sballet The Fairy’s Kiss and Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No 10.

Thiswill be the two artists’ first performance in Vietnam.

Since1996, the Hennessy Concert Series has been held in Vietnam in collaborationwith the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Performing Arts Department.Each year the series has produced sophisticated and diverse programmesshowcasing the world’s most respected classical musicians.

Bornin 1993 in Japan, violinist Fumiaka comes from a musical family. His father isa conductor and his sister is a pianist. He began to play the violin at the ageof three. In 2008 he was admitted to the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyoas one of the most promising talents. Since the beginning of the 2009-10 wintersemester, he continued his studies at the Vienna Conservatory.

Hewas not only the 2009 First Prize Winner of the International Joseph JoachimViolin Competition in Hannover, Germany, but also won the Music Critics’ Prizeand the Audience Prize. He is therefore not only the youngest winner in thehistory of the competition, but also the most decorated winner.

Fumiakahas performed with several of the world’s leading orchestra, including the NDRSinfonieorchester Hamburg, NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover, and Swiss Orchestrede Chambre de Lausanne.

Notablerecent highlights include debut performances with Warsaw Philharmonic, a tourof Japan with the Prague Philharmonia, and a performance of Polish KrzysztofPenderecki’s Double Concerto with Julian Rachlin, conducted by the composerhimself in his 80th anniversary concert, where Fumiaka played the viola. Hemade Paris recital debuts at the Louvre and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. Hewill make his recital debut at London’s Wigmore Hall in June.

PianistFumiaka performs the violin on the J.B. Guadagnini (1748) on loan from YellowAngel Foundation and the viola on the Storioni school "ex-JulianRachlin" (1780) on loan from Nippon Violin.

Bornin 1963, pianist Eguchi received a master of music in piano performance fromJuilliard. Since making his highly acclaimed New York recital debut at AliceTully Hall in 1992, Eguchi has performed in the foremost music centres in theUS, Europe and the Far East.

Heis also known as a collaborative pianist for renowned violinists such as GilShaham, Anne Akiko Mayers among the others. Currently he has recorded 45 disksincluding 11 solo albums most of which have been selected as the best newlyreleased album of the month from Recording Arts magazines.-VNA

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Archaeologists from the Vietnam Institute of Archaeology, the Hanoi Museum and the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities have announced the discovery of over 70 graves from the pre-Dong Son period and 40 graves from Dong Son period at the Vuon Chuoi archaeological relic in Kim Chung commune, Hoai Duc district.

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

Hanoi Ao dai dance marks Vietnamese women’s day
