Shiraishi Hideyuki, head of the Culture and EducationDepartment at the Japanese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, said the aidaims to tighten the friendship between Japan and Can Tho in particular andVietnam in general.
According to Vice Chairman of the municipal People’sCommittee Nguyen Thuc Hien, the aid package was worth 88,274 USD, with 75,716 USD in non-refundable aid,helping the college upgrade its facilities.
Nguyen Thi Huong, Vice Rector of the Can Tho College ofCulture and Arts, said with the package, the school has bought 137 types ofmusical instrument, and other accessories, and thanked the Japanese ConsulateGeneral and government for the support.
President of Can Tho city’s Union of FriendshipOrganisations Le Thi Thanh Giang noted her hope that the Consulate General andthe Consular General will help launch more programmes and projects in cultureand other fields.
The package forms part of the Grant Assistance forGrassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) of the Japanese government. It isoffered to developing countries with the aim to actively contribute to theworld peace, stability and prosperity through both bilateral and multilateralchannels./.
