Israel Film Festival to open in HN, HCM City

Hanoi (VNA) - The Israel Film Festival will open with 2014 Israelicomedy-drama film Zero Motivation, directed by Talya Lavie, on February 24 inHanoi.

ZeroMotivation features three consecutive stories recounting the events of anadministration office at a remote army base in the Israeli desert. The storiescompose a military epic of power struggle, intrigue and a friendship on trial,with a focus on the female clerical staff.

Thefilm premiered at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival where it received two awards.

Otherfilms of different genres, including Magic Men, A Matter Of Size, Five HoursFrom Paris, and Jellyfish, are also being screened during the film festival inHanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

“Ascinema is a wonderful tool to connect people regardless of their backgrounds, Ibelieve the Israel Film Festival will present new and unheard aspects ofIsraeli culture to Vietnamese viewers,” Israeli Ambassador to Vietnam MeiravEilon Shahar wrote.

“Foralmost 25 years, Vietnam and Israel have steadily developed a specialpartnership founded on mutual understanding, vibrant trade, economiccooperation and growing exchange of cultural activities. Further, the festivalallows Israel to enhance our links with Vietnam by providing an insight intoour rich cultural heritage through an assorted selection of films,” she wrote.

Thefree festival will be organised in Hanoi from February 23 to 27 at the NationalCinema Centre and in HCM City on the 3rd and 4th floor of ICON 68, 2 Hai Trieu,District 1, from March 2 to 6.

Over 100 burials from 4000 years ago discovered in Hanoi

Archaeologists from the Vietnam Institute of Archaeology, the Hanoi Museum and the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities have announced the discovery of over 70 graves from the pre-Dong Son period and 40 graves from Dong Son period at the Vuon Chuoi archaeological relic in Kim Chung commune, Hoai Duc district.

Festival promotes Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange

A cultural festival has been held in Uijeongbu city of the Republic of Korea (RoK)'s Gyeonggi province to mark the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Association (VWA) in the country.

Hanoi Ao dai dance marks Vietnamese women’s day
